World War II City — 4 words, but an indelible mark on Wilmington

It’s just four words: World War II City.

Yet those words are freighted with memories and consequence.

Wilmington isn’t a World War II city yet. After a decade of effort, however, the designation seems closer than ever.

North Carolina’s two senators — in particular, Thom Tillis — seem to have slipped the language of a long-dangling House bill into one of those monstrous Senate omnibus packages that Congress periodically considers.
